The Coona Clean Up

Four environmentally conscious and creative students from Coonabarabran High School spent Tuesday 18 December picking up about 100 kg of litter from the bush near the school and along the main street.

The students chose the treasure from this trash and used it to make a Christmas Tree and decorations.

The idea to spend the day cleaning up instead of cheering at the staff vs Yr 11 cricket match was Monique Bragg’s.  She was enthusiastically supported by Declan Eshman, Shafin Salim and Lachlan Eshman.

The most common items we found in the bush were broken glass and rusty metal.  Along the street it was plastic straws and takeaway sauces.  We hope next year not to find anything.
