Lambing Flat Writing Competition Success

Congratulations to Brittany Doolan and Summer Singh for achieving success in the 2016 Lambing Flat Regional Writing Competition, held in conjunction with the National Cherry Festival. Results were announced last Saturday.
In the Secondary School Poetry section, open to students in Years 7-12, Brittany Doolan (Year 9) won with her poem, “Without You”. Additionally, Year 8 student Summer Singh placed second with her poem, “I’ll be Waiting”. These were significant achievements for both young writers as not only were they competing against older students but also entries from interstate.
Brittany also won the Secondary School Short Story of up to 1000 words, also open to students in Year 7-12. Her story, “The Last Goodbye”, was described by the judge as having “good structure, storyline and kept the reader emotionally involved”.
Both girls will now receive cheques as prizes, no doubt proving handy before Christmas.
