The Coonabarabran High School community is again immensely proud of their Year 12 students. Today’s outstanding HSC results attest to their dedication and are a just reward for their efforts. Mrs Bethany Doyle’s Design & Technology class had 6 of 8 students gain marks over 90%. Their design projects which were showcased to the community on 1 September 2016, were stunning and built a strong platform for their final success in the course. Across the cohort, a total of 19 Band 6 (above 90%) outcomes were achieved. Quite a number of classes achieved marks in excess of the state mean including Design & Technology, Legal Studies, Modern History, History Extension, Engineering Studies, Metal & Engineering, Advanced English, Chemistry, PD/H/PE and Agriculture.
In Mr Heaney’s Metal & Engineering class, Mitchell Fosdick ranked in the top 10 students in the state and Nicholas Young in the top 60.
Pleasing also were the numerous students who clearly worked very hard in the lead up to the examinations and gained marks way above their expectations. No doubt the holiday revision workshops ran by staff strongly supported this positive outcome.
A number of students have already received offers of early entry to a number of universities including University of New England, University of Sydney, Charles Sturt University, Wollongong University and Southern Cross University. Others have secured employment. Our best wishes go with them as they navigate this next chapter in their lives’ journey.
