On Monday 23 October, the Year 9/10 and 11 Music students participated in a hands-on workshop on Brazilian music. The workshop was run by Tom Harding and involved 90 minutes of rhythm work on various Brazilian instruments. After being taught the basics, students were divided into 5 groups and rotated between these, playing different instruments and rhythmic patterns. The instruments included the surdos, pandeiros, agogo bells and ganzas. The rhythmic patterns ranged from quite simple to tricky, syncopated rhythms and, when played simultaneously, sounded great. Well done to all the students who participated for making it a great workshop!
