Celebration Sing Out

Nine singers from Coonabarabran High School travelled to Sydney with Ms Di Suthons and Ms Tina Pech to participate in the annual Celebration Sing Out choral singing event.

The students who participated were Sha’e Davis, Amy Maher, Alishea Rankin, Jordan Dicks, Olivia Meier, Molly Shannon, Artemis Pech, Amelia Toynton and Hunter Andrews. The students and staff left on Friday 27 November. They attended rehearsals on the Saturday and then participated in the choir concert on the Sunday evening in the Sydney Town Hall. This performance brought together 800 singers (students from primary and high schools, as well as adults) with an 80-piece symphonic orchestra. Apart from providing an opportunity to sing beautiful music in a beautiful venue, the concert raised funds for the Music Therapy unit at Westmead Children’s Hospital.

In-between rehearsals and performances, the students had an opportunity to go ice skating, to go to the cinemas and to do a bit of shopping. Everyone returned safely on Monday evening after a tiring, but fun-filled few days in Sydney. A huge thank you goes to Ms Suthons and Ms Pech for taking the students to Sydney and for providing them with the opportunity to participate in the concert. Another huge thank you goes to Ms Suthons for rehearsing with the students during lunch times – without her help, they would not have been as well prepared as they were. A last thank you goes to Mrs Di Woods for organising all of the catering.
