On Friday 25 May a Music Concert was held at Coonabarabran High School. This event was a P&C Fundraiser, and featured some of the musicians who presented workshops at the Music Skills Workshop Day, as well as some Coonabarabran High School students. The concert furthermore provided an opportunity to showcase the new baby grand piano which was purchased for the school hall.
Di Suthons opened the programme with a beautiful performance on viola da gamba. Ex-CHS student and professional singer, Jack Ayoub, performed three vocal works. Another ex-student, Nathan Cox, performed excerpts from a programme he prepared for a solo recital at the Sydney Conservatorium earlier this year. It was lovely to have both Jack and Nathan back performing in the school hall!
David Henry, who is a professional trombone player from Sydney, performed some works with piano, as well as a movement from a Haydn trio together with Natalie Johnston on violin and Mrs Rossler on flute. Paul Armstrong contributed to the evening with two voice and guitar performances. The second half of the programme featured CHS students Ian Whittall, Angus Lambert, Jayden Moore, Liam Russell and Felicity Maher as soloists. Ian performed one of his HSC violin pieces, Angus performed a solo as well as a rock guitar item with Jayden Moore on drums, and Liam sang three solos. Felicity sang a solo, as well as the song No One But You from the upcoming musical We Will Rock You. She was supported by CHS students Hunter Andrews, Molly Shannon, Jordan Dicks, Jezekiah Brown, Amy Maher, Amali Edmondstone, Annabelle Shannon, Angus Lambert and Ian Whittall in this performance. The evening was brought to a close with two further solos by David Henry.
The concert attracted a large audience who were extremely supportive of the performers. A very big thank you goes to all of the musicians for their delightful performances! We hope to see them back again soon!
