North West Equestrian EXPO

The cold and the rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the CHS Equestrian team at this year’s North West Equestrian EXPO.

The Coonabarabran High School Team consisted of the following students:

Baxter Young, Jazmin Webster, Jack Rapley, Sierra-Rose Birks, Jake Deshon, Elsie Kearney, Hannah Evans, Eden Allen, Isobelle Deshon, Alana Hungerford, Alex Letts, Eleanor Rapley, Sophia Bunting, Sahvanah Hunt-Faulkiner, Lachlan McGill and Melinda Ryan.

Throughout the 5 day competition, students participated in Eventing, Showjumping, Dressage, Sporting, the Working Horse Challenge, Warrumbungles Way, ring events, the Pentathlon, Team Hunt, Team Penning, Polocrosse and the Team barrel race. For many students, their mornings started around 6.30am, feeding, preparing, saddling and working their horses and didn’t finish until dark, so it was a long and action packed 5 days of competition.

The CHS team represented the school with enthusiasm and fantastic sportsmanship with CHS students placing in most events, and while it is difficult to include all placings, some notable successes for CHS include:

Melinda Ryan 1st EvA 60 Div, 1st Team Hunt

Alex Letts 2nd EvA 80 Div 3, 5th 80cm Div 2 A2 showjumping, Working Horse Finalist, First Team Hunt
